Principal's Messages 2019-2020

September 2019 Message:

Dear Horner community, 

It is hard to believe that summer is now over and we are all back to school at Horner!  Our entire staff has been busy preparing for the new school year and we are excited to welcome all our incoming students and families to the 2019-2020 school year. 

It is my hope that the 2019-20 school year is filled with excitement, joy, and new learning, I am thrilled and honored to serve as the new Principal of Horner.  Coming back to Junior High school is very rewarding as well as exciting and I am fully ready to make this school year amazing for our students, staff, and parents.  Additionally, I am equally excited to work with the exceptional administrative team of Mr. Harry Pabley and Mr. Adam Eslami.  

Our current student enrollment at the end of the first week of school is 1174 with a 99% attendance rate thus far.  Horner has employed four new highly qualified teachers this year so please welcome the following staff to Horner: Mrs. Wareeda Farrukh; Mrs. Alice Darknell; Mr. David Werner and Mr. Christopher Luebke.  They come to our school with vast experience and a “growth mindset.”

Construction on the new school building is coming along very well and we are scheduled to open the new school building in January of 2020.  Please look for announcements regarding the ribbon-cutting ceremony for this event. With the new construction on time, we will be ready to transition to our new Middle School Model with accepting 6th-grade students into Horner during the 2020-2021 school year!

Parent and school partnerships are extremely important to us, therefore, we look forward to seeing you at the Back to School Night event on Wednesday, September 4th from 400-600 pm.  We will begin our activities in the Big gym promptly at 4 pm with class visits beginning at 4:35 pm. Please mark your calendars with this date and time. Back to School Night is a great way to get to know your child’s teachers and to learn about the exciting things that happen in classes as well as learn about the expectations for all students.  

I believe in open communication with parents at all times and encourage everyone to email me if you have questions, concerns or want to share a victory story!  Email is the best and most expedient way to contact me. If you have questions specifically about a student schedule or student issue, please feel free to contact your child’s Assistant Principal for direction.  Below are the contact emails for all administrator’s at Horner.
